"Get DOWN"

Just have to write this one down.

This is Zachary's favorite phrase.  He must hear it 200 times a day at school.  I wish I had a video, but he also has a finger gesture with it.  He says "GET" with authority and points down with his index finger. He says "Get Down" to the dog on the couch, but the best is when he says it to himself.  He will yell "Get Down" when he crawls on something or he'll even say it when it's quiet, but it's his new favorite phrase.

The Potty

Zachary has been SO great communicating.  He has started the next stage in talking, putting two words together.  We've heard, "Dadda Outside", "Get Down", "No Mumbo", "No Bananna", "Go Outside", and "Shoes On", but one day at Grandma Tormoehlen's, we noticed Zachary looking concerned while he said "Poo Poo".  We changed him, and nothing was there.  Not five minutes later, he DID do the deed and we realized he was trying to tell us what was coming.

We know it's early, but we thought we break out the potty and see what he did.  He thinks it's pretty funny to stand in it like a space ship or racecar- I can't resist laughing at these photos!
If you're gonna be awhile, grab yourself some reading!

He thought it was pretty fun to stand in it

Did it work?  Is there a toy in there?

Happy Easter Zachary

Easter weekend was great this year!  Zachary got a new basketball hoop to play with his dad this summer.  He loved it!  On Easter morning, we woke up late, ate a great breakfast and dyed eggs for the first time.  Zachary was interested until he realized he couldn't eat or break anything.  His interest lasted about 5 minutes flat, but it was still fun!

There's the top of Zachary's head.  He was over it pretty fast

Dad was super pumped!

I Think We Have Our Guy Back

Zachary stayed home from school this week and I think we have him back!! Today was my day and I took him to a gym to play since it was too windy out. We met with his Grandma T and Carter and had a GREAT morning!

Here are highlights from his week
What he learned from Grandpa and Grandma Sawyer (Monday and Tuesday Shift)
-He Quacks when he sees a duck. "Quack! Quack! Quack!Quack!"
- He says "Beep Beep!" when you're in his way while he rides his scooter
- He says "Down" when he needs it/wants it (It was "uppy" for up and down before this)
-He says "Night-night" when he goes to bed
- He loves to sit on Kimbo and yell "Whhheeeeeee!" or "Whhhhoooaaa!"

What he learned from Grandma T (Wednesday Shift)
-"Fishy! Fishy! Fishy!" We loved feeding the fish in their new tank
-"Kick" and "Throw"
- "Stuck!"
- He got to take a nap with Grandma....and fell asleep right on the floor he was so tired!

What He Learned From Mom and Dad (Thursday/Friday Shift)
-He says "Teddy Bear"
- Stickers don't taste very good
-"Mumbo" for Kimbo
- He likes to eat banannas whole like a money. A little scary, a little fun to watch.
- Getting pushed around the gym is the start of getting pushed around in a terrible place called Coorporate America, so we started him early by teaching him to shake it off and keep playing hard no matter now many kids just stepped on you.

We're excited for Easter weekend and excited for our family to be healthy together. Thanks everyone for the help this week! You helped us get our guy back!

He loves to read books on this little stool.

Dear Zachary, I Hope You Never Have To Do This Again.

These past few days have been rough! You caught a terrible respiratory virus last week and it rocked our world. Here's the story:

Last Monday, terrible fires started in the foothills. You and I really struggled with sneezing and coughing. The air quality was poor and you and I sure noticed. And then came Thursday morning....

You were coughing all night, so we were all exhausted. Dad left for work in Houston, so when you woke up, I gave you some medicine and sat with you for awhile as you watched cartoons. I noticed you were breathing very strong, even using your stomach muscles. I thought this looked strange, so we went to your Doctor's office. Once we got there, everything seemed to happen in a blink.

Your oxygen levels were very low and you were taking too many breaths per minute. You were struggling to breathe. After a few treatments, we were taken in an ambulance to the ER. I called your Dad and he started to work on flights home to be with you.

We spent a total of three days in the Hospital. The treatments were tough, and you hated being confined to a small room and lots of tubes and wires, but you got better each day. I'm still in shock and how fast everything progressed.

We're so thankful you're better and you continue to get stronger. It was so tough to see you sick, but it means the world to have you back at home with us.

Here's to hoping you never have to do this again!

This was your view from the Hospital room.

The monitor on your toe was driving you bonkers!

You still had a smile to make the best of the situation

One of your many nebulizer treatments. This was so heart wrenching to go through.

You got a new Thomas the Train sticker book that kept you pretty busy.

Waking Dad up in the morning to play on the IPad

You were SO SICK! Look at that face!

You looked SO CUTE in your Hospital gown, but hated being confined to your small room with all of your tubes and wires.
