The T's are BUSY!!

The Tormoehlen house has been busy!  We're exhausted from the week!

The week started off in a tough way.  My hometown of Colorado Springs broke out in a fire.  There were over 35,000 people evacuated from their homes and many of my childhood places were burning to the ground.  My parents home was just southeast of the burn, so they didn't have to leave, but the had large pieces of ash falling on their home throughout the day.  As of today, the fire is still not contained and it's devastating to see the damage on the morning news.  The event had me evaluating my belongings throughout the week.  I often thought,  "What would I grab if I had to leave?", "Would I be able to live without the things in my house?", "What if Zachary couldn't take his children by his childhood home when he's older?".  I send daily thoughts and prayers to those who lost everything.  I'm hoping the fire comes to an end soon.  Colorado has a state-wide ban on fireworks for this 4th of July, which is a good thing, but also very sad. 

And with the fire, Zachary's respiratory problems began again.  With the poor air quality, we ended up at the doctor's office by Tuesday afternoon to check his oxygen levels.  He'll need to continue to high doses of asthma medicine until the air quality improves.  The nebulizer treatments are tough on us all, but I'm thankful he's showing signs of improvement.

Zachary also started his new daycare this week.  This truly isn't a daycare, but a school for kids.  They teach the kids how to make their own lunch, clean up after themselves, and do household chores.  I'm already noticing his lessons, as he took my heels and placed them side-by-side in my closet on Wednesday!  The change is tough on him as well as Kyle and I, but I think it's the best for him in the long-run.

We also had some exciting news- meeting with my doctor to discover if Zachary will have a little brother or sister.  We're not sharing our news yet, as we're awaiting Kyle's family to arrive from STL next weekend.  All of Kyle's grandparents will be with us in Breckenridge next weekend for the 4th, so we'll tell them together.  I will let you know that I'm just as, if not more so, excited as I was to hear about Zachary.  And now that we can plan, we'll start moving Zachary out of the nursery and prepare the nursery for our new arrival this fall.  We'll share soon!

More to come, but thank you for the kind words and prayers regarding my family in Colorado Springs.  We are all safe and I'm hoping more families can find relief and peace soon with the end of the fire.

Grandma Sawyer

Grandma Sawyer came up for the day last Saturday and we had a blast!  We took the boys to the pool and had a pizza party on Saturday night.  Mom loves her grandsons so much!  It was fun to watch them all color a page together.  Colin worked really hard on one of the pictures and when he showed it to me, he said, "Look at my nice picture.  Even though Zachary scribbled on it, it still looks nice."  What a guy.

Colin and Dylan's Birthday

 Colin and Dylan had a camping party for their birthdays and it was a blast!  Here are a few highlights from the day:
- Kyle dressed up like Yogi the Bear for the kids.  They were totally freaked out until they realized it was just Uncle Kyle.
- Zachary loved playing in all of the tents.  It was a little fort for him and he loved to kid out all of the big kid and play with toys
- Kyle got Dylan and razor scooter and he played on it for hours
- Zachary got to play with his cousins and had a blast.

The day was awesome and it was one of the best parties I've been to.  Kyle was the ultimate Uncle and he made a lot of kiddos smile.  What a guy!

Weekend Update

Pictures to come soon, but until then:
- We've been SO sick at our house.  Zachary brought home the daycare crud again, so we all had a drippy nose  and a bad cough.  The worst part is that I was the only one that couldn't take medicine with my pregnancy.  We're all slowly recovering.

- This past Saturday was Colin and Dylan's birthday party.  It was a total blast.  Kristy did a camping theme in her backyard with tents and smores and the highlight was when Kyle put on a Yogi the Bear suit for all of the kids.  Zachary had a blast in the tents and didn't sit down once for hours.  He CRASHED that night.

- We've been taking Zachary to the pool on the weekends.  As with anything new, it's taken him awhile to warm up to the stiff swim diapers, the tight swim shirts, and the big kids splashing, but yesterday was the turning point.  He did a great job kicking in the big pool and playing in the kiddie pool, and even smiled when he fell face first into the water.  And he crashed again last night, thanks to all of the kicking.

- Yesterday was also Father's Day.  Kyle enjoyed watching soccer and spending time with us at the pool.  Zachary and I got him some new workout gear, as he's been running and exercising on his lunch breaks- very healthy!

- This is the last week Zachary will be at La Petite.  It's bittersweet.  Zachary has been at this school since he was 12 weeks old, so I'll probably ball my face off.  We start transitioning him this Thursday and Friday morning and his first solo first day will be next Monday.  I'll keep you posted, as this is a big move for the family.

Before I Forget

Our jaws dropped this weekend, as Zachary did his first three word sentence.  He's working so hard communicate, so we often ask him what he wants so that he can either point or tell us.  (This is also to helps prevent major meltdowns).

Zachary looked like he wanted something, so Kyle asked.  And we got, "Ba-ba Dada Please."

It was the cutest thing I've ever heard.

Colin's Birthday

We had a SUPER fun day yesterday for Colin's birthday.  He turned six and was ready to party.  I've said how much Zachary loves being with his cousins, but these smiles prove just how much he does!  He LOVES being with them and we all enjoy watching them play together.

It was getting really late in the evening, but Zachary still wanted to play and stay up.  The boys played basketball, rode a bike together, blew 100 bubbles on Zachary's head, lit small fireworks, and had a super-massive dance fest until 10pm!  Zachary crashed and slept in until 9am!  I didn't think it was even possible for him to sleep past 7am!

What a fun weekend.  Next up- Walsh June party in two weeks!

Dear Baby T

Hey there Baby, it's your Mom.  Just wanted to tell you a few things since I've been so busy lately.

We're officially out of the first trimester and we're taking a turn for the better.  I'm getting used to the exhaustion and lack of sleep.  I've told everyone at work about your arrival and there's lots of excitement.  It's hard getting dressed in the mornings, as I have to get creative with a mix of maternity and non-maternity clothes, and it's scary that I'm already getting tired of my closet.  We've got a long way to go!

You've recently reminded me why I think November babies are the best.  We get to be very active in the summer and I'm not too big at the end of the summer when it gets super hot.  And it even cools off, just before it's 'go time'.  We're 17 weeks in this photo, so we'll learn if you'll be a little brother or sister very soon.  Everyone seems to be voting that you're a girl, but I have visions of breaking out Zachary's cute little clothes again.  Even if you're a girl, I may still stick you in some of his sleepers.  They're  just too cute not to wear!

We don't get to talk much since your brother has me so busy, but I promise to be better about that.  I have a great feeling that you'll add so much to our family and that your Dad and I will enjoy having a baby around that we don't have to worry about running and falling.  Once we know if you're a boy or a girl, we'll start to work on your room so that you have a space of your own.  Even though our house is small, we still have plenty of room and love for two!
